Why I Do This Work
Meet Eleanor Shelby-Ellis,
Mediator. Coach. Author. Founder 🦋💜
For as long as I can remember, people have come to me with their problems.
As a teenager, friends would pull me aside for advice. As an adult, family members, coworkers, neighbors, and complete strangers would often ask for guidance when they felt stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of what to do next.
Back then, I used to joke that I should pull out my Sally Jesse Raphael glasses, grab an Oprah microphone, and start charging for my services.
I had no idea there was actually a profession built around helping people navigate conflict, communication, and difficult conversations.
Then I discovered mediation.
💜
Discovering My Calling
While completing my Bachelor's Degree in Global Studies at Metropolitan State University, I enrolled in a negotiations and mediation course.
During the class, I learned that mediation wasn't simply something people did naturally. It was a professional skill and career path.
Everything clicked.
The work felt familiar because I had been helping people work through challenges for most of my life.
After completing my coursework and mediation training, I earned my Minnesota mediation certification and began building the foundation for what would eventually become EASE Conflict Resolution Services.
Why EASE Matters
EASE was originally a dream shared between me and my fiancé, Patrick.
We envisioned creating a space where people could find support, understanding, accountability, and resolution.
While I focused on mediation and conflict resolution, Patrick was passionate about restorative practices, circle work, and community healing.
When COVID changed our lives forever and Patrick passed away in 2020, our dream was suddenly left unfinished.
For a time, I wasn't sure what would come next.
Then my sons reminded me that this work mattered.
They encouraged me to continue building what Patrick and I had started.
Today, EASE stands as both a professional mission and a personal legacy.
Every client, conversation, workshop, and success story honors the vision we once shared.

My Approach
I believe conflict is a normal part of life.
Most people are not struggling because they are bad people.
They're struggling because they're hurt, overwhelmed, misunderstood, frustrated, or simply stuck.
My role isn't to tell people what to do.
My role is to help them gain clarity, communicate more effectively, and move forward with confidence.
Whether I'm working with individuals, families, organizations, or communities, my goal remains the same:
To help people move from confusion and conflict toward understanding and resolution.
